East Huntspill School Council
What do we do?
School council meets every month to discuss school matters that are important to the children. The school council members are decided following class votes and includes a representative from each year group, from Reception to Year 6.
The children discuss ideas at meetings that are reflective of issues raised in class, on the playground or the wider school community. We aim to provide members with the autonomy to make informed choices in school thereby developing their skills of communication, rationale and self-confidence.
In the past, School Council have raised money for new Phonics books, playground games and gardening equipment. School Council have held various events, such as, sponsored bike/scooter race, car/bike washing, smoothie sales, cookie cafe and book and toy sales.
