Welcome to Oak Class Year 4
In Oak Class, there are 16 Year 4 children who are taught by Mrs Hartnup. Oak Class is a friendly and hardworking team who respect each other and endeavour to be the best versions of themselves. We work hard to look after our classroom environment and we love to share the super learning we do.
Summer 2023 Terms 5 and 6
Our enquiry question this term is 'Why is the human body unique?'
During the summer terms we will be finding out lots about humans, including, what they are, what happens with the food we eat, comparisons with other animals and the importance of being healthy. We will also learn about teeth and why our oral hygiene is important. As scientists, we will be using our skills in investigations to consolidate our learning for this enquiry question. Our Science lessons will ensure we learn lots about Sound and humans.
In English, we are going to be reading 'October, October' by Katya Balen together during our whole class guided reading lessons and 'Mr Stink' is our class read aloud, which was voted for by Oak Class children. We will be focussing on writing a balanced argument on key issues during 'The Write Stuff' lessons. We will continue to work hard at improving our spelling, punctuation and handwriting skills every week. As a school, we use 'Spelling Shed' to support our learning in spelling. All children have their own login which can be also be accessed in school and at home. The Maths focus for this term is decimals, money and time. We will also be revisiting the 4 operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to make those memorable, alongside our daily Maths Fluency sessions. We will be working very hard to improve our recall of multiplication facts ready for the Year 4 Multiplication Times Tables Check in June. Children can access 'Times Table Rockstars' in school and at home to support them with their multiplication knowledge.
